what is a doula?

reason’s to trust me as your doula

I am Trauma Informed

I take on the approach to respect the autonomy of my client and their familes as I provide support services to them. Although as a doula I do not treat symptoms or issues related to emotional, physical, or sexual trauma, I am aware of the issues that potentially could rise during the fertility, labor, and postpartum phase of pregnancy. I educate my clients about trauma and possible triggers that can occur during their care with their birth/fertility team while supporting them through the process.

I am person-centered

I believe in caring and supporting the personal as a whole. As my client I believe that you have an incredible strength and the ability to make informed decisions for yourself and/or your birthing family member. I aim to educate and inform you on how to advocate for yourself before, during, and after giving birth. My clients have the ability to decide what kind of care they want. Your well-being is important to me so educating you on what to expect, their rights, and how to use your B.R.A.I.N in this process.

I am community based

Outside the home, the community is the basis for learning, growing, and developing. Our community helps care for one another, which is one of my philosophies. The community is important to me, and embedding it within allows me to understand the needs of the people. Although doulas are well known for being advocates, we do not advocate in the delivery room BUT we advocate in our community. We are reaching out to community leaders, organizations, and policymakers to let people know what the needs are in the community. All of this contributes to what happens in the delivery room.
